      Description

      A Stock Certificate The American Sugar Refining Company for less than 100 shares of PREFERRED stock. Very nice document dated 1961. The ASR was incorporated in the state of New Jersey on January 10, 1891, with $50 million in capital.[1] By 1907, it owned or controlled 98% of the sugar processing capacity in the United States and was known as the Sugar Trust, later the company was knonw as Domino Sugar.

      As new competitors arose the company undertook the production of cane sugar and raw sugar in Cuba and acquired lumber interests.
