      Description

      Libro - Book PAPPERBACK

DAGGER IN THE HEART: AMERICAN POLICY FAILURES IN CUBA by Mario Lazo Publisher: Funk & Wagnalls, New York 1968. Title based on a quote by Senator J. William Fulbright in Memorandum to President Kennedy, March 30, 1961 "The Castro regime is a thorn in the flesh, but it is not a dagger in the heart." paperback. 446 pages, 5" x 8". Index Content: "Dr. Mario Lazo's dramatic and revealing account of the Castro era, and of U. S. policies that have given world Communism a staging platform of fearful military and subversive power in the Caribbean - a dagger pointed at the heart of America...Dr. Lazo... has lived exactly half of a long and colorful life in Cuba and half in the United States." After the Bay of Pigs, Dr. Lazo returned to the U.S., researched how Castro came to power, why the Bay of Pigs invasion failed. "Lazo's re-creation of the Bay of Pigs disaster and the military crisis ...challenges the accepted versions." Dr. Lazo "received a law degree from Cornell, served as a Captain in the U.S.Army during WWI, went to Cuba, took a law degree from the Univ. of Havana, founded a law firm...which represented U.S. government, major American corporations, and a distinguished Cuban clientele."

Interior pages in excellent condition, cover has stains, cover worn around the edges.

This book confirms and adds to the great book "Fourth Floor", many think this book reveals much more than the book written by Earl Smith.
